Meeting Notes for January 20, 2022
President Terry “Showtime” Koehne opened a “packed house” hybrid meeting with the Rotary theme: “Serve to Change Lives.” Our club theme is: “Reconnecting - Back Together Again.” R.I. President is Shekhar Mehta. Maria Cooper from Above and Beyond Productions beautifully facilitated the hybrid portion of the meeting.

Greeter, Alan Love, started with a thought he uses with his children: “The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” – Walt Disney
Alan gave us a brief update of what is happening in his world. He is currently the Police Captain for East Bay Regional Planning Department for the next seven days. His next role is as the Chief of Police for the Oakland Housing Authority.

WELCOME GUESTS
Visiting Rotarian, Marie Galbo, was there not only to visit, but also to support the induction of her cousin, Chris Lofaso.
We also had a second time visiting Rotarian, Venkat, from the Madras Northwest Club in India.
Spouses Ginny Weber (in person) and Barbara Komas (on Zoom) were both in attendance.
We were lucky to have three Interactors with us: Communications VP Danielle Lee, Treasurer Praneeta Agranal, and VP of Logistics Tanya Belani.

NEW MEMBER INDUCTION:
The newest San Ramon Rotary Member, Chris Lofaso, was formally welcomed into the club by Membership Chair Chris Gayler. He was presented with his red badge and other “swag”.  According to Chris L., this has been 15 years since Marie Galbo started encouraging him to join. After visiting a couple times, he spoke with his now mentor, Colette Lay, got the real story from her, and decided to join anyway! A warm welcome to the club, Chris!

Michael Roberts has coordinated the addition of SRR in the upcoming San Ramon Chamber of Commerce guide. This will be both on the printed and online version.
President Showtime anticipates hosting a hybrid meeting once per month.
In sad news, President Koehne announced the passing of former SRR member Michael Prilutsky.

FOUNDATION NEWS
Lucky Sandhu, in the coolest pants EVER, received his Paul Harris +8 pin bestowed upon him by Dr. Glen Weber. The Rotary themed pants led to speculation on whether there are Rotary themed underwear to match. This was neither confirmed nor denied.  Thank you to Past President Colette Lay for making Lucky purchase those pants at the 2017 convention!

PROGRAM- ALL THINGS COVID
Our esteemed speaker was Patrick Joseph, MD, FIDSA, FSHEA. He is an Associate Clinical and Professor of Medicine at University of California, San Francisco.
This scribe feels inadequately equipped to summarize such an important presentation, and in addition, would not want to inadvertently spread any misinformation on this topic.  For that reason, for an overview of this presentation, please refer to the slide deck of Dr. Joseph’s presentation that was emailed to all members by President Koehne last Friday morning.

Raffle – Glen Weber won the $20 greeter gift, and Judy  Lewis pulled a blue marble.

Respectfully submitted,
Julie McKinney, Scribe
