Greeter Protocol

When you are assigned the duty of being our greeter, you should remember the following:

1. You should be at the meeting by 11:45 AM in order to greet everyone as they come to the meeting.

2. You should bring a "Greeter's Gift" for the raffle. The gift should be approximately $20.00 in value.

3. You will be leading the giving the inspiration of the day, leading the salute to the flag, and introducing the visiting Rotarians. It is a good idea to watch the visiting Rotarians sign in, so that you can ask them about any complicated names or classifications.

4. If you cannot attend, it is your responsibility to find a replacement.

Crow’s Call for January 18, 2018 by Tom Port
Meeting at Cal High with our Interact Club!

OpenerThe California High School library was the venue for The Interact Mid-Year Luncher. A relative handful of club members had showed up in time to grab a few bites of pizza and salad before President Lucky pounded the gavel and called the meeting to order.
Greeter: Jerry Marrs led the flag salute and advised: “ Lie can be short. Tell the people you love that you live them and be sure to spend time with them.” After the Flag Salute: “My Country ‘tis of Thee …”, Jerry shared a brief profile: He and his wife Dana have been married ten years and have two sons. The elder is a senior at Cal. High and the younger is in sixth grade. Jerry coaches baseball and to earn a living he practices elder law and estate planning.
Club News:

Auction: Jerry Marrs pointed out that we had 400 auction items last time, but out of 150,000 or so folks who were contacted by one method or another only about 250 people actuslly bid on auction items. So, we need to get more people bidding for this year’s auction.

Golf: Guy Greco says he plans a meeting after our first February club meeting to discuss with those interested how to improve the golf outings.

Recognitions: Naim spent a freezing week in Hamburg Germany but he didn’t get any sympathy from Lucky who promptly recognized him for $50.00.
Mike Gunning’s wife Sandra, who recently had a birthday, cost Mike, who was not even present, $4.00.
Edgardo proudly announced they have a boy for a grandson coming in July. ()I’m not sure how much that cost him.
Interact Club: After acknowledging and thanking Cal. High Principal Sara Cranford and Advisor Scott Hodges, Lucky introduced Jessica Yuan, the exceptionally buoyant and self-confident President of Interact.
Jessica showed a video: “We Stand for Wildlife” that supports the club’s involvement with the Wildlife Society. The Society’s purpose is to support biodiversity, expand conservation and protect endangered species. The Interact Club has pledged one thousand dollars, or ten percent of the total District 5160 pledge toward this effort.
The Club’s Highlights for 2017 included the “kick-off” by District 5160, the Crayon Initiative in which crayons were collected and melted down to be donated to hospitals and schools in need, the Napa Fire donations, the 5160 District Conference, The Veteran’s Velo, the Danville Concours d’Elegance car show, the Run for Education, the drive to collect blankets for the homeless, and the Christmas Tree lot, and more.

The club also revamped their website: https://www.calhighinteract.org/
and prepared a video that was a finalist out of some 2000 participating clubs in the Rotary Interact video competition.

All-in-all the Club’s 50 plus members have a lot to show for themselves and are undoubtedly one of the outstanding Interact clubs of the more than 12,300 worldwide.

The meeting concluded with a group photo.
